On April 19, 1985, a delegation of the Priyadarshni Academy, led by its chairman, Mr. Nanik Rupani called on President Zail Singh at Raj Bhavan in Bombay, to acquaint him with the aims and activities of the organisation.
In October, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Amarsinh Chaudhary became a member of the Advisory Board of the Academy. This was a matter of prestige for the organisation. The Academy instituted an award of Rupees One Lakh for "National Integration" to be awarded, once in 3 years, to an individual or organisation for promoting National Integration.
On September 21, the First Annual Function was held at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay, where Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shivajirao Patil-Nilangekar and his Cabinet as well as the MPCC (1) President, Smt. Prabha Rau and office-bearers were felicitated.
